Many a mum I know have the same dream. To keep their kids and family happy and healthy and find a good balance between work and family life. The mums I talk to say the same thing. I need to go back to something….(to work) so I can use my brain that seems to have been all caught up in timing feeds, monitoring food and liquid input and output and did I mention the constant need to talk about baby poo? From colour, to consistency to frequency not to mention ‘poo throughs’ and projectile movements. It’s quite intriguing that new parent conversation becomes dominated by details of faecal matter isn’t it?!! So most mums of my generation are in the same boat. They long to rediscover their career identity and work towards challenges that don’t necessarily involve their children at all. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re a mum who loves nothing more than to stay home and be a mum and talk with your babies and nurture and teach them day in day out, I can only take my hat off to you if this is how you plan to fill your days. I couldn’t do it full time. I longed for a balance. I wanted a career that gave me purpose but also the necessary flexibility to be able to change things up if I needed to. I wanted to be there for the school assembly presentations, athletics and swim meets, so I could watch and cheer my daughter on and have her remember that I was there for her. Being out of the workforce myself for quite some time after we had our baby meant I was a little daunted by the thought of returning to work. I liked the idea of the social interaction and being able to...

Family Photography can mean different things to different people. We encourage families to think about how they wish to be pictured. Some families prefer the more traditional style of family portrait, everyone looking down the barrel of the camera lens, posed and smiling faces. While others prefer us to capture their treasured moments in a more candid way. This is our favourite way to photograph as everyone is relaxed and doing what comes naturally with those they love most! We are so proud and grateful to all the wonderful families that we have has the privilege of photographing throughout our years servicing the local community. One thing that we continue to embrace is the diversity of who make up the ‘typical’ Hobart family. What is typical? What is normal? We really dislike these terms, as it tends to stereo type people into categories with labels. When we recently did a call out for same sex couples to celebrate their unions as part of a Family Photography Hobart model call session. We were so blessed with the amount...

Infant Massage Course In this blog, I'll take you through some of the main reasons both you and your baby will benefit from participating in our infant massage course. Perhaps you haven't given it much thought until now, however, be assured that the health, social and emotional aspects of what is offered has an immensely positive impact for the babies and the parents. 1. Bonding Massaging your baby from birth establishes a healthy platform to develop trust and enable the parent/infant relationship to grow and thrive. It is said that Massage is a way that we can communicate with our infants, communicating through touch. Touch is the first language of an infant. The Baby Love Infant Massage Course will outline how your baby sees the world and learns through the other senses well before developing verbal skills. Incorporating massage into the daily routine, even if only a few minutes a day, will be very beneficial for both the baby and his/her care giver. 2. Less Crying When your baby cries, he or she isn’t angry with you, or intentionally trying to make your life difficult. Your baby is merely expressing a need he/she has. Crying is the means they will use to alert you to their need. Did you know that universally babies are said to speak the same language? Neither did I until after the birth of my baby. Read more on this here http://www.dunstanbaby.com/about-us/ Babies express a different cry to express hunger, pain, tiredness. Fascinating, and in all my years teaching infant massage, I wish I had listened to my mother (retired midwife) who had suggested I become familiar with this during my pregnancy. It certainly would have made life easier in the initial weeks/months of having a new baby. So why is newborn photography a must have? Babies are only newborn once. A very small window of opportunity is available in the first 3-10 days after the birth of your baby, to capture your baby in his or her ‘newborn’ phase of life. The main reason it is recommended to book in your newborn photography shoot during this timeframe, is to increase the likelihood of being able to achieve the adorable little posed sleeping photos of baby. In the first days immediately following birth, baby is sleeping much more soundly and for longer periods of time....
